Help us provide for our local babies in need!

You can help expand our ability to provide baby food and diapers to food-insecure families that come to us each year for support. Currently, the Community Center is reliant on unpredictable donations of formula, baby food, cereal, diapers, and wipes.

We would like to be in a position to guarantee that each family with babies or toddlers will receive at least 7 days’ worth of baby food and diapers for each child from birth to 3 years, every month that they need to turn to our Food Pantry for support.

The Community Center currently serves approximately 270 babies and toddlers each month, 146 are 2-3 years old, 70 are one year olds, and 54 are less than a year.

Therefore, to fund an entire year of our Baby and Toddler Program, the cost would be:

$725.00 x 54 Babies $ 39,150.00
$475.00 x 70 One-Year-Olds   $ 33,250.00
$175.00 x 146 Two to Three-Year-Olds $ 25,550.00
TOTAL ANNUAL COST
$ 54,100.00

THE NEED:

  • 1 in 3 US families cannot afford diapers for their babies.

  • 36 percent of American families experience diaper insecurity

  • There is no designated
    state or federal assistance
    for
the purchase of necessities for babies.

  • Nationally, 57% of parents experiencing diaper need who
rely on childcare said they missed an average of four days of school
    or work because they didn’t
    have enough diapers.

In 2022, 3,000 households from Northern Westchester communities came to the Community Center for supplemental food: 34% of those served are food-insecure children.

Baby food and diapers are essential for the health and well-being of our youngest clients. As the Food Bank for Westchester states, “Child hunger hampers a young person’s ability to learn.”

Providing diapers not only impacts babies through improved hygiene and comfort but also impacts the whole family. As the National Diaper Bank Network states, “Without diapers babies cannot participate in early childcare education. Without childcare, parents can’t go to work.”

Here are a few of the many ways you can help us reach our goal:
$20 covers the cost of cereal and baby food for a month
$60 pays for a month’s supply of baby essentials
$150 helps keep a toddler in dry diapers for a year
$275 covers a year supply of diapers and wipes for a one year old

Please consider a gift and make a difference in the lives of your youngest neighbors in need!
