Help us to provide essential health and baby supplies for local women in need!

In 2022, 3,000 households from Northern Westchester communities came to the Community Center for assistance. We currently serve approximately 1,000 women and 270 babies and toddlers monthly. Many of these women are single parents and often forgo buying essentials like diapers and feminine care products to help feed their families and keep the lights on.

We strive to be able to offer each woman feminine care products and at least 7 days’ worth of baby food and diapers for each child from birth to 3 years, for every month that they need to turn to our Food Pantry for support

Unfortunately, the Community Center is reliant on unpredictable donations of pads, tampons, diapers, and wipes, but your donations can help provide much-needed feminine care products and baby essentials to help local women.

Period poverty is a phenomenon in which individuals are unable to access the feminine care products they need to safely take care of their periodsIt’s a pervasive issue that affects women around the world, including those we serve in Northern Westchester. The monthly cost of these products can be prohibitive for individuals who are already struggling to pay for things like food, rent, and utilities and are not covered by SNAP (food stamps). So, they sometimes go without, meaning they’ll either skip work or school to avoid the shame of menstruating in public without these supplies.

THE NEED:

  • 1 in 3 US families cannot afford diapers for their babies.

  • Necessary feminine products are not covered by SNAP or any other welfare program.

  • 36 percent of American families experience diaper insecurity

  • There is no designated
    state or federal assistance
    for
the purchase of necessities for babies.

  • 1/4 of US menstruators struggle to buy period products each year.

  • Nationally, 57% of parents who
rely on childcare missed an average of four days of school
    or work because they didn’t
    have enough diapers.
