Sherry Wolf, Executive Director

Sherry Wolf A graduate of Barnard College and Columbia Business School, Sherry has worked for New York City's Office of Management and Budget; for NBC; and for the MTA, where she helped launch the E-Z Pass system. She was elected President of the Community Center's Board of Directors in 1999 and, after a stint as Interim Director, became Executive Director of the Center in 2008. In addition to her role at the Center, Sherry sits on the Task Force of Emergency Shelter Partnership.

Sherry recently secured a grant from the Westchester Community Foundation to conduct specialized English language and civics classes for low-literacy learners through the Community Center. As Sherry says, "I find this program compelling, in that it gives our clients practical skills that they can use to improve their everyday lives. In this respect, this new venture is true to the founding spirit of the Center: helping our less fortunate neighbors to thrive in our community."

Noya Guerrero, Assistant Director for Client Services

Noya Guerrero Before immigrating in 1990 to the United States, where she joined her architect husband, Noya studied business administration in her native Ecuador. She is fully bilingual and became an American citizen in 2001. When she first arrived in the US she worked as a housekeeper and babysitter. Noya understands the travails of a new immigrant and dealing with difficult times. She applies this sensitivity to her everyday work counseling clients. She is their greatest advocate and source of inspiration. For her part, the best aspect of working with the Community Center clients is "helping people with real problems who still manage to smile every day. They help me be a better person." Noya's work at the Community Center is a family affair, as she has recruited her teenage son Nelson to volunteer regularly. She says it helps him to "keep in touch with the real world."

Clare Murray, Assistant Director for Operations

Noya GuerreroClare Murray says she felt so at home when she came to the Community Center as a volunteer that she was eager to join the Center’s staff when a position became available. Clare is a native of England, where she earned a degree in physiotherapy. She worked as a physiotherapist in Great Britain and Canada before moving to the United States and settling in Bedford Hills. Before joining the staff at the Center, she managed a local company which imports clothing and accessories to support artisans and women’s co-operatives around the world. Although she enjoyed that job, “I missed working with people,” she said. In her position at the Community Center, Clare is able to use her business experience as well as the inter-personal skills she developed while working in health care. “My heart has always been in human services,” she says.
